What is a Rebel Garden?
A Rebel Garden is our A Better Yard version of a native garden. We remove a section of unnecessary turf and replace it with densely planted native flowers and grasses that support birds, pollinators, clean water, and healthy soil.
Usually 150–250 square feet, an intentionally manageable size — a great first step toward a yard that does more than just sit there and actually gives something back to our neighborhoods.
Each Rebel Garden is professionally installed and designed to grow fuller and more beautiful over time.

How it works

Pick your spot
Choose a section of turf you’re ready to stop fighting with — often 150–250 square feet, or about the size of one or two parking spaces. Front yard corner, mailbox area, fence line, patio edge, problem spot… all great options.

Prep the Garden
We remove the selected section of turf, prepare the soil, locate utilities, and get everything ready for installation day.

Install
Your Rebel Garden is installed with carefully selected native plants designed to feed pollinators, support birds, reduce maintenance, improve soil health, and bring life back into your yard.

Finish
We finish the garden with light mulch to help protect the soil, suppress weeds, and support healthy establishment.

A Better Yard Membership
Every Rebel Garden includes a 3-month membership to A Better Yard where you’ll learn how to care for your new garden.

Enjoy Your Garden
Within days, butterflies, bees, caterpillars, and birds will find your Rebel Garden. Observe and report back what you find to your new A Better Yard friends.

I started A Better Yard after realizing how much time, money, water, and chemicals were being poured into landscapes that gave almost nothing back to the environment. This is my way of helping homeowners take a manageable first step toward a lower-maintenance, more meaningful yard — without needing to rip everything out or strive for perfection.
